 Salary: dependent on experience

 Annual Leave: 23 days per annum from 1st April (5 extra days for a current long serving Clerk)

 Hours: 25 Hours per week (to be reviewed after 6 months) with some evening work

 Location: Mainly home based / some office based (ParishOffice)

 Training/Other: Attractive pension scheme and CiLCA training provided with fees paid.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Parish Clerk and RFO to work for Newbold Verdon Parish Council and its community.

Newbold Verdon is a large parish situated in Northwest Leicestershire with a population of approximately 3,254 (2021 Census).

It is a thriving community offering its residents many facilities and public open space for all to enjoy.The successful candidate will have the desired administrative and organisational skills required for the role and ideally, a good working knowledge of local government.

You will need to be a sound communicator, be able to work under pressure and able to multitask a variety of tasks at any given time. Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of people with tact and diplomacy. Strong IT skills are also essential. You must also be adept at using Microsoft Office.

Some experience of working on burials and managing a cemetery are desired but not essential as fully training will be given.

The successful candidate is expected to hold or have the desire to work towards the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) and will manage the council's services, its one member of staff and take on the pivotal role in ensuring the council continues to move forward by delivering new initiatives and projects. Duties will require some evening work including attending Council meetings and the Parish Clerk will also be expected to build and maintain a good working relationship with all other governing bodies, service providers and village organisations.
