Newbold Verdon Parish Council

Serving the people of Newbold Verdon

Newbold Verdon Parish Council in collaboration with AFC Market Bosworth and Newbold Verdon Cricket Club have established a new working group that reports into the Parish Council.

Although in its infancy, this group has been established to work with the local community and those that can benefit from the fantastic facility we have available to our community and surrounding villages to consider how we can improve the existing facilities and meet the needs of those wishing to access them.

To do this we first want to engage with the local community to seek your views.

As a working party we have set a number objectives including:

1. Ensuring the facilities in our gift (NV Sports Pavilion and associated playing field) meet the needs of the local community.

2. Establish a multi sports and activity facility that complement each other and enables its members the opportunity to participate in different sports and activities.

3. Improve utilisation of the facilities to benefit the community, not solely sport and exercise, but also:

a. Improve health and wellbeing
b. Reduce isolation
c. Improve community cohesion and community ownership

4. Retain adequate green space that provides a safe place for our local residences to enjoy. It is our intention to produce a strategy for the future use of these facilities that will complement the neighbourhood plan, the Council objectives and meet the needs of our local community and its surrounding villages.

To do this we want the support and engagement of its users and local community. This survey is intended to audit the views of those that this strategy will impact the most and give the local community the opportunity to input into its development.

Please could you take a few moments to answer only 5 questions using the below SurveyMonkey link under More Information at the bottom of this newsfeed.

Should you prefer to complete a paper copy, please contact the Parish Clerk.

The information shared within this survey will be used to support a 3-5 year strategy for the facilities. There may need to be a short-term plan put in place which supports the delivery of our longer-term objectives.

What is critical to this is regular engagement and support from the local community to ensure whatever we aim to develop will be valued and meets the local needs. Please be aware this is not a guarantee that we are able to do everything, but more a review of how we can strive to improve the services and facilities we have available locally.

Many months of hard work will need to be invested in bringing a strategy to fruition, including accessing funding opportunities to support any development. As a group we will continue to work with the local community and seek to access the expertise to help us deliver a community plan that meets the local needs. This is your opportunity to help shape it.

If anyone would like to discuss this further or offer support, please do not hesitate to contact the Parish Clerk on or 07483 347773.
